First, he belonged to the movement "Der Blaue Reiter", then he joined the Bauhaus where he taught, up to the closure of the school by the Nazis in 1933.

Inventor (or not) of the abstraction, he is one of the giants of the XXth century ! Thinker, theorist and founder of the "revival of the painting", after centuries of "representation of the reality".
