Naïve Art

Naive art emerged in the 19th century and is used to describe The Customs Officer Rousseau, whose painting did not refer to academicism, the painter being a completely self-taught artist.
Naive art has the particularity of being figurative without necessarily respecting (intentionally or not) dimensional relationships of perspective, the reality of colors, or the precision of drawing.
Naive art is therefore childlike, and its inspiration is often that of popular images.
Nowadays, many painters from Oceania, Polynesia, and Latin America are connected to this movement.
