Valérie Hermant is a French painter born in Creil in the early 1960s. Raised in a printing-related environment, which led her to her preferred medium, lithography, she discovered the world of graphic arts at an early age and began her personal career in the 1980s. Primarily expressing herself through original lithography, she developed and refined her technique there while preserving her immediately recognizable naïve style.
Her work is characterized by allegorical, joyful and poetic compositions populated by stylized figures, hot-air balloons, animals and animated landscapes. Paris, its emblematic monuments, villages, popular festivals and wedding scenes are among her favorite themes, as a way of preserving what is no longer. Her soft colors and whimsical atmospheres evoke a world close to fairy tale and dream.
Her lithographs, signed and numbered, have found an audience both in France and abroad, notably in Europe, Japan and the United States. Several exhibitions have been devoted to her in France, Belgium and Japan.
