* * *
Main works :
The Melting clock, The Persistence of Memory, Christ of Saint John of the Cross
Artistic movements :
Surrealism
Inspiration, influence :
The impressionism until 1919, the cubism then. Besides, the psychoanalysis, which was a major discovery of the life of Salvador Dali, also marked his work.
His contemporaries :
Joan Miro and of course Pablo Picasso whom Salvador Dali admired and whom he qualified as a genius, but also writers (Paul Eluard, Breton André or Garcia Lorca) and the great surrealists : Buñuel, Magritte or Tanguy.
To keep in mind :
Beyond the painter, the character Salvador Dali, cultivated an image of "strange super-artist"... He liked that we speak about him, for the better or for the worse...
To go further :
"Un Chien Andalou ( An Andalusian Dog)", co-writed in 1929 with Buñuel, is a short movie which put the milestones of the visual surrealism, as well as the strange and the narcissism as a kind of art.
