Inspiration, influence :

The universe and the decorations of the theater guided the steps of Alfons Mucha. At the beginning of his career, he is creative of atmosphere, rather than painter.

His contemporaries :

In the agitated Paris of 1890/1910, he frequently sees Sarah Bernhardt for whom he realizes posters and theatrical decorations and Paul Gauguin who is one of his friends and models.

To keep in mind :

Brilliant poster designer, the Alfons Mucha's style and talent marked the city of Paris and its passage to the XXth century.

To go further :

In 1901, Mucha designs the shop window and the decoration of the Jewelry Fouquet in his Art nouveau style. All the decorations are today visible at the Museum Carnavalet where the place was completely reconstituted.
