 Katsukawa Shunsho, his teacher, but also the western art (brought in Nagasaki by the Dutch people) and particularly the contribution of the perspective.

His contemporaries :

 His influence on the European artists is immense : Gauguin, Hokusai, Sisley. The compositions of the "The Old Man Mad About Drawing" (nickname of Hokusai) profoundly marked their visual universes.
